Our World Health Organization (WHO) reports that breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in women in India, with thousands of new cases being diagnosed every year. However, it is estimated that a woman in India is diagnosed with cancer every 7 minutes. Now, breast cancer is hitting at a much faster rate than that.
In this regard, Mary is 40 years old. She is a woman who runs her family in poverty. She has two daughters and a son. Her husband works as a shoemaker on the roadside.
Yesterday, she contacted us and said, “Please help me in any way, sir.” I have cancer in my breast. I am undergoing treatment. My husband is a shoemaker on the side of the road. My children go to school. With my husband’s income, I don’t even have 3 meals also. I don’t even have money to go for treatment, so sometimes I don’t even go to the hospital. I am struggling a lot because I can’t afford treatment and my children are without food.
The doctors are advising me to eat fruits and nutritious foods. But I can’t tell anyone that I don’t have even for food here. I can’t even pay the rent for three months. If I don’t have this house, where will I go? I am suffering thinking that if I die for this, it will be better, sir,” she said with tears in her eyes. When she sees their situation, her heart will definitely melt.
We truly believe that we can help her together. We want to help her family by providing groceries every month. We also need help with her treatment and transportation.
